Meditation
Meditation encourages a heightened state of awareness and has been shown to have a positive impact on mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. It can help you tap into feelings of tranquility, happiness and inner peace when going through stressful life experiences. Each of my yoga classes incorporates a 15 minute meditation however some people want to dive deeper into their meditation practice. Different types of meditation that I can facilitate include;

Mantra meditation: which uses a repetitive sound to clear the mind
Guided meditation: using imagery, sound or scripts to achieve a meditative state
Visualisation: using all 5 senses to visualise positive scenes, outcomes or goals
Metta loving-kindness: which opens our hearts and minds to receive and send love to others (through a series of well wishes), releasing feelings of anger or resentment
Yoga Nidra: which helps to achieve a deep state of consciousness and relaxation whilst maintaining awareness
Focused meditation: which enhances concentration by focusing on something external

Breathwork refers to any type of breathing exercises or techniques which are used to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. During breathwork you intentionally change your breathing pattern to achieve greater self awareness. Breathwork can reduce anxiety, depression and stress and helps to release feelings of anger, fear and grief. As you probably know, yoga practice is focused on the union between breath and movement. Some people want to dive deeper into more focused breathwork. Sessions are based on yoga pranayama techniques such as; diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing, resonant or coherent breathing, humming bee's breath, lion's breath or focused breath along side some guided meditation. During a free initial 20 minute consultation we can discuss your personal needs and tailor a plan to suit you.

Reiki is commonly referred to as palm, hands-on or energy healing. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. Energy blocks can cause discomfort, dis-ease and sometimes even illness. Reiki aims to remove blocks and improve the flow of energy around the body. This can induce relaxation, reduce pain and speed up the healing process. Crystals can also be used during Reiki treatments to stimulate the flow of chi/qi (life energy) in order to facilitate healing. During a treatment various stones may be placed on your body in alignment with the main chakra points. Balancing chakras stabilises emotions by releasing stagnant negative energy and increasing vibrant positive energy. Sound therapy can also aid in balancing chakras. I offer both Tibetan & crystal bowl sound therapy sessions. During a free initial 20 minute consultation we can discuss which combination of treatments you wish to pursue to re-balance your energy.

I have been qualified as a massage therapist for 25 years and have certificates in Swedish massage therapy, aromatherapy, sport massage and foot reflexology. Benefits of massage include; relaxation, reduced stress hormones and muscle tension, increased mobility and flexibility, improved circulation, stimulation of the lymphatic system and improvement in soft tissue injuries.

Yoga has been my passion for almost 30 years and I have used this transformative practice to heal myself both physically and mentally. I have completed two yoga teacher training courses including 200 hours @ Yoga Elements in Bangkok, Thailand and 500 hours advanced training @ Kailash Tribal School of Yoga in Dharamsala, India. My goal when working with individuals and groups is to balance body, mind and spirit through gentle asana practice, breathwork and meditation. I have worked with clients privately, in health resorts & mental health/rehabilitation centers in SE Asia as well as in the Middle East. I consider myself to be culturally adaptable and sensitive in my approach. My initial training was focused on vinyasa sequencing, functional anatomy, movement and pranayama (yogic breathing) practice. Over the years my teaching has evolved significantly. After completing a Masters in counselling I wanted to provide more specific support to clients with mental health conditions, a growing concern in our fast-paced modern world. My classes embrace more gentle practices such as yin, restorative and slow floor flows to really tune into our minds and bodies. I have a special interest in yoga for trauma and/or injury and can tailor classes to suit client needs. Personalised plans may include a combination of wellness practices and/or mindfulness counselling. During a free initial 15 minute consultation we can decide on which combination of practices best suit your specific goals.
